Abstract

Literacy is a powerful instrument to increase the health status in the form of providing positive attitude and perceptions in improved health care. The literacy plays an important role to determining the ecological condition, use of health care facilities, economic condition, awareness of different aspects, socio-religious & taboo practices, and use of immunization and level of awareness. The present investigation is based on interviews of 400 Baiga households from five different blocks of Mandla district, Madhya Pradesh, India. It may be conclude that education has its direct impact on awareness, utilization of health care facilities, socio-religious and taboo practices; because education changes the attitude and direction of thoughts of an individual.
