Abstract

Effect of salt on the mean-molar volume of solution: The mechanism of solute-solvent interaction in solution is understood by the studies of mean molar-volume and partial molar-volume of solution. We have studied the volume properties of solution of some salt and some non-electrolyte of bio-chemical importance. The salts studied are KCL, BaCl2.2H20, SrCI2.6H20 and non-electrolytes Glucose and Fructose. The medium selected for study is water and DMSO+ water system. Effect of salt on the mean molar volume of solution is studied from nature of graph obtained from mean molar volume against mole fraction of solute with slope.
