POVERTY, GLOBAL HUNGER & FOOD SECURITY

Abstract

Both Poverty and global hunger are the reflection of each other. Both of them are very dangerous for humanity and become obstacle for country development. Because of poverty the basic need of peoples like food doesn’t fulfill properly. And end of the day its create a situation like global hunger. Peoples get affected of malnutrition! Peoples start facing a Disease like beri beri, anemia, and kwashiorkor etc. And at the end people loss their life untimely and human power does hamper because of this. It is a complex thing in undeveloped and developing country. There has been settled comity time to time resolving poverty line issue in India. In lakdawala formula there is an assessment of urban poverty and in rural areas there is an agriculture labor made of on the basis of consumer price index. Tendulkar samiti has made a basic line for consumer expenses. In fact According to analyst comity which is being made by planning commission, those who do not get 2400 calories a daily basis in rural areas and 2100 calories a daily basis in urban areas comes under poverty line. As per the survey of NSSO in 2004-2005 approx 23.85 Crore populations it means 21.8% population in India comes under poverty line. Although India produces large volume of food in the world besides of it’s become a worrying situation in India. Approx 30 Crore population of country facing a hunger crisis. There has been report made by germen international food policy institute in October 2009 regarding food security of different nation. there is a global hunger index which was made on the basis of malnutrition and child death India got 65th position out of 84 country which is a subject of worrying. Because of this valid reason commity is more focusing on food security. factually it means the use of latest technology is to get more production, grain security and prevent grain lost and to send grain that really deserve by the different program. There is a many program like integrated child development scheme (ICDS), anganbari, aatyodai anne yojna, annapurn yojna, mid day meal (MDM) plan etc is being introduce to fulfill the objectives. There are many agency like WHO, FAO, UNICEF, CARE etc on the world level who is directly supporting us to fight with this kinds of problems.
