Abstract

The origin of industrial democracy dates back to the early days of industrialisation. At that time, conflict was a social phenomenon between employers arid employees. Both industrial organizations and different groups like employers, employees, share-holders, etc. depend on each other for attaining their own goals. For example: employers expect higher production and more profits, employees expect higher wages, better living and working conditions, suppliers want higher prices, customers want lower prices, better qulaity and services. It is not possible to meet these expectations always and this results in conflict, which in turn obstructs the development of an industrial organization.
