Vegetables are the essential diet for every person in their day to day life. The production of vegetables is increasing rapidly in India. Increasing the price of the vegetables and the variation of the price of the vegetables from one channel to other is serious problems for every individual. This paper tries to identify the price variation of vegetables in different seasons in the adjoining areas of Ranchi and also the role of various agricultural inputs that hike up the prices. The adjoining area of Ranchi was undertaken for the survey where the farmers are taken up with a structured questionnaire to know the selling and production price of the vegetables. The areas like Mandar, Pithoria, Chano, Itki, Brambhe and Thakurgaon was considered for the study. In order to understand the price variation of vegetables it is necessary to know the different factors that influence the price of vegetables. It is identified that the various types of retailers that deals with vegetables in Ranchi market also play a vital role in price variation.
