Abstract

An infestation is an invasion of insect on a plant. It is an actual organism lying on or within a host. An infested plant or body remains in the state of being invaded or overrun by pest or parasites. Acanthiophilus helianthi (Rossi)(fruit fly) causes immense damages to the crops of maize and Asterceal family resulting into great economic losses. It is a Palaearctic species and commonly known as safflower fly or capsule fly. These are well distributed in Palaearctic, Afrotropical and oriental regions almost all over the world.
