Teaching is not only one of the noblest, but also one of the most moral and valuable professions in the world. The teacher has monumental responsibility and power- to influence, to educate, to empower and to change lives. Viewed in this back drop, ensuring the welfare, general well being and happiness of teachers becomes not just desirable, but imperative. It is a matter of surprise and concern therefore, when it becomes clear that all across the globe, teachers are facing discrimination, social injustice and their issues and concerns are being ignored by the governments and larger social systems in which they function. This paper attempts to take a comprehensive look at how teacher’s issues are almost the same with some minor variations, and how all across the world, teachers are feeling marginalised. This feeling has lead to a marked increase in teacher’s protests that can be seen in the developed as well as developing countries of the world. This trend of common problems and issues that confront teachers today is also a powerful indicator towards the urgent need for governments and international bodies to pay attention to the teacher’s voices and opinions.
