Abstract

Physiochemical characteristics of Gajraula and Hasanpur fish ponds were studied for the period of one year. Physiochemical parameters like pH, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, carbonate alkalinity, bicarbonate alkalinity, total alkalinity, free carbon di-oxide, total hardness, total solids, dissolved solids, suspended solids, nitrate nitrogen, sulphates, phosphates and chlorides were estimated and tabulated seasonally. The temperature ranged between 10.4OC – 40.5 OC and 9.8 - 40 OC, pH ranged between 6.9 – 9.1 and 6.2 – 9.1, turbidity ranged between 18 – 400 APHA unit and 80- 910 APHA unit, dissolved oxygen ranged between 5.9 – 12.2 mg/l and 2.8 – 7.7 mg/l, carbonate alkalinity ranged between 7.8 – 175 mg/l and 3.1 – 115 mg/l, bicarbonate alkalinity ranged between 88.245 mg/l and 75-138 mg/l, total alkalinity ranged between 125 – 390 mg/l and 93 – 340 mg/l, free carbon di-oxide ranged between 0 – 12.2 mg/l and 5.4 – 15.9 mg/l, total hardness ranged between 139 – 460 mg/l and 50 – 255 mg/l total solid ranged between 110 – 575 mg/l and 170 – 304 mg/l, dissolved solid ranged between 85 – 405 mg/l and 72 – 220 mg/l, suspended solids ranged between 15- 308 mg/l and 78- 165 mg/l, nitrate nitrogen ranged between 0.40 - 1.45 mg/l and 0.60- 2.75 mg/l, sulphates ranged between 36-220 mg/l and 38-162 mg/l, phosphates ranged between 0.012- 1.03 mg/l and 0.20- 1.4 mg/l and chloride ranged between 115-335 mg/l and 12-45 mg/l for Gajraula and Hasanpur fish ponds respectively.
