The aim of the report was to investigate the working of a corporate performance management system and trends in the performance management system in India. The fundamental goal of performance management system is to promote and improve employee effectiveness. The report concludes that performance management system in Indian organization provided benefits to the organization but suffers from the challenge that process compliance itself has assumed greater significance than the purpose and outcome which it is expected to drive. Also, in most cases, the performance management system becomes limited to just the annual or periodic performance appraisal process.
