AWARENESS AND UTILIZATION LEVELS OF FARMERS ON VARIOUS FACILITIES AND ACTIVITIES OFFERED UNDER A VILLAGE ADOPTION PROGRAMME

Abstract

Village Adoption Programme (VAP) organized by private fertilizer firms which is synonymous to the term “area approach” involves the selection of a village or cluster of villages for the formulation of suitable programmes which are to increase agricultural production in a village through providing information and services to farmers to take up more scientific agriculture. In this context, a study was undertaken among 150 respondents in Theni District of Tamil Nadu to study the awareness and utilization levels of famers about the various facilities and activities offered by the Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited through VAP. The study revealed that the awareness and utilization levels of famers on various facilities and activities offered by SPIC Ltd., under VAP were found to be significantly increased.
