A STUDY ON CURRENT TREND OF CSR EXPENDITURE IN INDIA

Abstract

In simple terms corporate social responsibility (hereinafter referred as CSR) can be defined as the responsibility of corporate towards the society they are operating in. CSR is an evolving concept that currently does not have a universally accepted definition. Two of the eminent definitions are appended below: The World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD, 2009:2), defines CSR as “the commitment of business to contribute to sustainable economic development, working with employees, their families, the local community and society at large to improve their quality of life”.

  2. KPMG India releases its CSR reporting survey annually. Survey is an analysis of the disclosures made by selected top 100 companies as part of their Annual Report.
  3. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Annual CSR Tracker 2017 is based on disclosures of 1,522 companies.
  4. As for report, for FY 2017-18 and 2018-19, numbers are projected based on the past trends and analysis of a few lead companies’ CSR programmes.
