Abstract

This paper is an effort made to explore, bring out, congregate, illustrate and evaluate the errors in English made by the native students of Chhattisgarh whose mother tongue is Chhattisgarhi language. The problem is not only in the part of the learners in turn it is likewise severe in the teaching part also. Currently there is an enormous shortage of a good English teacher in Chhattisgarh. This attempt is made at the point of time when there is an increasing apprehension regarding the terrible condition of the English language teaching not only in terms of lack of English teachers at all the levels but also the qualitative teaching is very much sparse. This problem is not merely susceptible in primary, middle and high schools but also in college and university level. The growing attraction of the students towards the lucrative jobs in different sectors within the state and in other states is increasing rapidly. However the poor proficiency in English is restricting them to prove their mettle. Thus this fact is exasperating everyone concerned. Consequently an effort has been put to analyze all the mistakes committed by the students or the teachers so that it can be addressed right from the point of its initiation.
