Abstract

SamanRazaet al, synthesized novel thiazolidin-4-one and thiazinan-4-one derivatives and screened for anti-diabetic activity. The compounds with thiazolidin-4-one moiety exhibited significant anti-hyperglycemic activity both in vitro and in vivo. In in vitro anti- hyperglycemic assay using L-6 muscle cells, of all the compounds synthesized compounds 1a and 1b showed +51.9 and +67.2 % glucose uptake at 10μM conc. when compared to the standard Rosiglitazone which showed +61.6 % glucose up take at 50μM conc.
