Handloom industry form a part of India’s heritage and exemplify the richness and artistry of the weavers. The first annual report of the ministry of textile states that the handloom industry is the largest direct and indirect employee (more than 3million weavers & 12.4 million other persons) among the traditional industries. The art of weaving handloom fabrics in India is an ancient traditional technique. The Indian craftsmen have excelled in their creative craftsmanship decoration and the ornamentation. The economy of a country depends on its industrial development in addition to the agriculture. Handloom industry is considered as a one of the largest cottage industry. Cottage industry provides the large number of employment opportunities to India, in where population is increasing in a rapidly.
