Abstract

An active and vibrant labour market is essential for economic development and equal distribution of national income between the individuals in a society. The analysis of the role female in labour market and their participation in labour market is extremely significant because women into the labour force can be considered as an important source of future growth of the Indian economy. Women’s participation in the labour force can be seen as a signal of declining discrimination and increasing empowerment among women. But one of the extraordinary features of Indian economy is the low female work participation as compared to male . Kerala, the southern states in India, most renowned with higher social development and social status of women as compared to the other states in India is not free from the universal phenomenon low female work participation in economic activities. The migration affects the domestic labour market by the way of changing the structure, composition and participation of labour force both men and women.
