Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how contemporary strategic management tools and techniques impact the organisational performance. In today’s dynamic business environment, the only thing constant is the change. Change, per se, is inevitable and most of the leading organisations have developed mechanism to manage changes that might occur in today’s business climate. What is frightening and often unmanageable for most of the organisations is the rate of change, the speed and frequency at which such changes occur. The very survival of an organization depends on how it fore sees the changes and formulates strategies to counter such threats. Firms that are proactive in their approach and have clear, uncluttered strategic orientation are able to formulate winner strategies to “harness” such changes for enhancing competitiveness and maximising the organisational performance. Without the strategy being in place, the mere survival of a business organisation is difficult and its competitiveness- a flight of fancy.
