A STUDY ON BITCOIN AS A SOURCE OF INVESTMENT WITH HIGH VOLATILITY OF RETURNS

Abstract

Currency is a generally accepted form of money, including coins and paper notes, which is issued by a government and circulated within an economy. Used as a medium of exchange for goods and services, currency is the basis for trade. Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple and Ethereum are popular among crypto currencies which had attracted many investors of these days. The mechanism of minting bitcoins through block chain process,its availability, purpose for which it’s been used had made the spurt in the demand for bitcoins in the recent past. The present study talks about the risk return of investing in bitcoinvis-à-vis with other fiat currencieslike US dollar, metal gold and market index Sensex.
