MUGHAL NOBILITY IN THE REIGN OF AKBAR

Abstract

The Mughal nobility was primarily a mass composed of diverse and incongruent elements, Tartar, Persian and Indian Muslims. Tartars, who were former subjects of Babar, arrived in large numbers from Samarkand and were given employment by their former chief at his court.
