Abstract
As the energy consumption and also the high demand for the energy resources in all the parts of the world increases to a greater height. The present study is aimed at testing the relationship among the energy consumption and economic growth in the case of India for the period of 1971-2014 using a Time series approach. The study establishes a long run relationship among the variables which are selected for the study. Further, we also found the causality running from the economic growth to energy consumption and a weak causality also from the energy consumption to the economic growth. The study also raises the policy implications of switching over to the renewable energy sources and there by promoting the sustainable growth.
