CHALLENGES AND BENEFITS OF GENETIC MODIFIED INDIAN MUSTARD

Abstract

The introduction of genetically-modified crops has invariably been involved in disputation in our country with science staying within the sidelines within the theatre of shrill noises — for and against. The minister-inflicted moratorium on Bt mad apple seven years alone could be a clear case in purpose. Concern regarding personal sector management over technology was the dominant theme then. Now that a body of scientists — the biotechnology Appraisal Committee — beneath the ministry of surroundings has suggested exploitation of genetically-modified (GM) flavoring developed by a national public establishment, any lingering concern over personal sector dominance would be misplaced.
