Abstract

The basic objective of this study is to examine constraints barring Ethiopian women in micro businesses from accessing credit and highlight the alternative measures they resort to in order to over come such constraints. In order to carry out this study a sample of 152 respondents was selected from Adama city by using snowball technique of sampling. This study is based only on primary data sources. In-depth interview method is used to collect data from the sample respondent women in micro businesses. Data collected from in- depth interviews was grouped, and analyzed and the major conclusion of this study are that the major constraints barring women from accessing micro credit are grouped around four main categories i.e., Personal constraints in approaching micro credit, Socio –cultural constraints ,
