USING SOCIAL MEDIA FOR BRAND COMMUNICATIONS IN THE TELECOM SECTOR

Abstract

Telecom industry in India has shown tremendous growth in the past couple of decades in India. Along with the growth of mobile phone users, there has been an increase in the number of internet users, most of whom use social media as well. Brands have discovered social media as a vehicle for marketing communications. Major telecom companies are now using popular social media for their brand communications. This article describes a study on the use of social media by mobile phone brands for their brand related communications. Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube users have been studied through a survey to understand the impact of brand communications by telecom brands on these social media. Overall satisfaction with social media brand communications, brand equity.and purchase intention has been studied.
