SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PLANNING FOR DRYLAND AGRICULTURE OF WESTERN RAJASTHAN

Abstract

Dryland region of western Rajasthan is significantly large area spread over in 208751 sq kms, which is 61 percent of state geographical region, where no perennial river system exists. Population of the region is 225.21 lakh with density of population of 108 persons per sq km, varying from 13 to 323 persons. Sex ratio of dryland region is 924 female for 1000 male varying from 821 to 981. Rate of growth of population is 27.62 percent with district variation of 20.90 to 47.50 percent.
