A STUDY ON MINDFULNESS, REGULATION OF EMOTION AND MENTAL WELL-BEING AMONG YOUNG ADULTS

Abstract

Mindfulness is a term that had been studied along with Personality traits, Anxiety, Depression, Rumination and many areas and its affect on Physical and Mental health. Factors like emotions and emotional experience also determine individual’s health status. Awareness of thoughts and emotional experiences may help regulate one’s mood and help individual to live a better quality of life. Being able to be aware one may need to be mindful, be in touch with the present, the here and now. One of the core aim of Mindfulness based approaches. Researchers have paid consistent attention on Mindfulness due to its positive effects on Psychological Well-being. This study aimed to explore Mindfulness and its relation to both regulation of emotions and Mental Well-being among Indian University/College students. In this study, sample consisted of 160 students selected with the help of purposive sampling were studied. The data obtained showed highly negative significant relation between Mindfulness and difficulties in regulation of emotions; negative significant relationship was found between difficulties in regulation of emotions and mental well-being. Were as, Mental Well-being and Mindfulness also showed positive correlation with Mental Well-being
