Abstract

In the competition law, the relevant market plays an important rule for the assessment of abuse of dominance.Broader is the relevant market, lesser is the chance to became dominant and narrower is the relevant market, higher is chance to be declared the dominant. The respondent, against whom the allegation of abuse of dominance are made, always tries to expand the scope of relevant market. However, the petitioner always tries to narrow the relevant market. In this article, author will try to demonstrate the importance of the relevant market in passenger car industries and will show how dominance of firm varies from one relevant market to another relevant market in the same industry.
