LANDUSE PATTERN AND CROP MANAGEMENT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF WESTERN RAJASTHAN

Abstract

Operational holdings of dryland region of western Rajasthan possess 138.25 lakh hectare area which is broadly combination of fallow land of 80.06 lakh hectares and cultivated land of 57.24 lakh hectares. Out of about 25 lakh families are dependent on agriculture for their survival base. Land use pattern of dryland region of western Rajasthan possesses 208,751 sq kms area of which 2.13 percent is demarcated as forest land, 4,59 percent area is not available for cultivation due to put under other activities like habitations, railway, roads, buildings etc, 4.80 percent area is barren land cultivation practices are not possible,
