GENDER DISCRIMINATION IN SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN OF UTTRAKHAND

The present study was undertaken with specific objectives to examine the health and educational status 6~11 years’ school age children. This study was conducted in Haldwani block of Nainital district of Uttarakhand. A total of 200 children (100 male & 100 females) from two private and two Govt. schools were randomly selected for this study. It was formed that more males were checked up for general health thenfemales. During minor illness, no discrimination was made in treatments provided to male and female children. Regarding educational status, parents wanted to provide higher education to male for job security while to female for economic independence.
