Politicians pick and choose which identity they want to use as the basis for political and social mobilization. Whichever identity they emphasize, the rhetoric is invariably one of “social justice” and “equality”. So in the name of social justice and equality, they try to expand their base in political numbers. Same is the case with Rohith vemula of Hyderabad University, Knahiya Kumar of Jawaharlal Nehru University. It will be worthwhile to note that the basic things behind the incidences in these two universities are not new; complaints against such type of incidences were reported earlier also. Then the question arises why the incidences of Jawaharlal Nehru University and Hyderabad University came into the lime light while the incidence of NIT Srinagar remains at twilight.
