Abstract

The Purpose of the study was to investigate longitudinal effect of physical training on selected autonomic and cardio-circulatory variables of sportspersons of different games and sports. The study was carried out on forty five healthy male volunteers of Indira Ghandi College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences (IGIPESS) University of Delhi. The age of the subjects ranged from 17 to 21 years. The subjects were classified on basis of their mode of games/ sports specialization, intensity and volume of the specific specialization training. The classification was done as Judo group(G1), Athletics group (G2) and Team Games group (G3) with each group having different intensity, volume and the nature of the activity load. Twenty three (23) variables (Autonomic and Cardio-circulatory) were selected for the purposes of the study.Multi-group repeated measure design was adopted as the experimental design for the study. The different Groups (G1,G2,G3 and G4) were tested repeatedly at an interval of six weeks in a paradigm of four and half month physical training program based on step progression loading method. The testing protocol adopted was pre-test (T1), 1st Post-test (T2), 2nd Post-test (T3), and 3rd Post-test (T4).
