EFFECT OF EXMINATION ON PITTSBURGH SLEEP QUALITY INDEX AND PITTSBURGH INSOMNIA RATING SCALE OF SPORTS ANDNON-SPORTS MALE STUDENTS OF WEST DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL

Abstract

The Purpose of this study was to examine the effect of examination on Pittsburgh sleep quality index and Pittsburgh insomnia rating scale. The subjects were sports and non-sports male students, selected from different west Delhi Public Schools. The age of the subjects was ranged from 15 to 19 years. The questionnaires used for this study were Petersburg insomnia rating scale global scoring (PIRSGS) & Pittsburgh sleep quality index global score (PSQIGS). The selected questionnaires were administered before the examination, during the examination and after the examination. The result of the study reveals according toPetersburg Insomnia rating scale sports players having better sleep quality than that of non-players. The players were superior then that of non-players in regard to variable namely duration of sleep, sleep disturbance, day dysfunction due to sleepiness, need medicines to sleep. The study concludedthat various factors causing poor sleep quality in senior secondary male players and non-players (students) before, during and after examination.
