In the last eighties Vogel2[Ber.,6,1302(1873] reported some dyes and their use in photography. They were found to be more sensitive to light or other regions of electromagnetic spectrum. After two decades from the Vogel’s work Graville Williams3[Trans.Roy.Soc.Edin.,21 317(1856)] supported the Vogel’s work and the dyes prepared by him were called cyanine dyes. The observation of Vogel was further corroborated by E.Bacquerel4[Compt.Rend.79,185(1874)] and subsequently by water house.
