Abstract

Mahabharata a mythological story is classified as a heroic epic which makes a distinction from the mock epic and the literary epic, it merge myths, legends facts and fancies, that can simply be understood in 21st centaury where the reality and fact are soaking into present scenario. Books on Mahabharata are never stopped but some new writers and youth are fascinating towards this mythological tale. Such as in regional literature Mahabharata presents ample potential to appeal audience through interesting stories, myth and poetries. Pratibha Ray in Yajnaseni adds subsidiary stories which are different only in slight details from Mahabharata. Yajnaseni is Draupadi’s story narrated in her own words from a feminist point of view .Pratibha Ray tries to make a balance portrayal of the Mahabharata character and highlights the broader and deeper aspects of Draupadi’s mind.
