Abstract

The paper was prepared out of the field work conducted by me during 1988. Observation and interview methods were largely used. I have attempted to examine the traditional as well as non-traditional tools and implements used by the Anals in organizing their economic, social and cultural activities. It has also been aimed understanding as to how far the changing economic and social forces have virtually influenced their material culture. The study revealed, that in spits of the introduction of new cultural traits and religious values their material existence has not gone very far towards advancement. The old ideas still prevail but conversion to Christianity is rapidly changing their mode of life.
