Abstract

Abstract This paper focuses on a new version of battery called paper battery which is an amalgamation of carbon nanotubes with paper (cellulose). The paper battery provides the functionality of both a battery which gives long-term steady power and as a super capacitor which can provide bursts of energy. Paper (cellulose) provides for both the separation of electrodes and as a physical support for battery. The prime advantages of paper battery like biodegradability, non-toxicity, flexibility, light-weighted etc. promises a great future for powering the new generation of electronics like powering the electronics gadgets in medical science, automobiles, aircrafts and many more. Paper battery provides innovative solution to pack more power in small spaces. Paper batteries can be cut, folded and can be shaped in any form depending on the application without the loss of efficiency. The paper battery distinguishes itself from other batteries in its use of CNTs(Carbon nanotubes) which allows for electrical efficiency and efficient use of space. The initial part of this paper provides introduction to paper battery. Consequent part discusses construction and working of paper battery. Later part focuses on advantages, drawbacks and application of paper battery.
