Abstract

The various pollutants originating from different sources enter the soil on the land surface. After reaching inside the soil, these toxic elements affect the soil system. Soil contamination due to these toxicants adversely affects the normal growth of living beings. These pollutants in soil disturb the various process going thereon. Microbial decomposition of organic matter in soil is likely to be adversely affected by pollutants arriving in the soil. Various kinds of metal originated from different sources that pollute land either directly entering it or indirectly through contaminated irrigation water or through industrial waste sewage, sludge, etc. Besides soil, these metals pollute the air as well as water. Metals originating from automobiles also pollute the soil.
