Abstract

India is currently one of the fastest growing and highest data generating nations in the world. With around 4.66 billion active internet users and approximately new data being added at the rate of 2.5 quintillion bytes everyday1, we are in the midst of a transition to completely digital ecosystem. The reality of this transition is that almost every single activity commenced involves some sort of data transaction or generation. The growth of this digital ecosystem has paved the way for the development of law relating to data protection in India. It is an important upcoming and delicate issue that is to be dealt with.
