Abstract

Phytoplanktons are representing the microscopic algal communities of open water as a major element in aquatic biota. The role of phytoplankton in energy budgets of aquatic ecosystems and their importance in establishing their steps is well known. The density of plankton in a water body determines the stocking rate of fishes because they are the chief source of food of many economically important fishes. Algal phytoplankton diversity has been studied from Jun-May 2017-2018. Phytoplankton is the pioneer of an aquatic food chain. The productivity of an aquatic environment is directly correlated with the density of phytoplankton. The phytoplankton population in any aquatic system is biological wealth of water for fishes and constitutes a vital link in the food chain.
