CHANGES IN BLOOD PARAMETERS DUE TO HELMINTHES IN RATTUS RATTUS

Abstract

The common rats were captured and examined for helminthic infection with fecal salt flotation technique. The hematology of infected rats showed fluctuations in their values when compared with control animals. The observations were taken after 10th and 28th day of experimental infection with inoculum of 100 infective eggs of trichuris and syphacea nematode. The time interval was selected according to the life cycle of parasite. The Hb gm% was decreased after infection while leucocytes were increased. Similarly, the eosinophils and neutrophils were found to be increased after infection. Eosinophils are mainly associated with allergic responses (such as asthma), viral infections or helminthiasis .
